Remember that Minnesota senate seat that stayed undecided for months because the results were so close? 500 military absentee ballots were rejected because they arrived too late. Minnesota sends out absentee ballots 30 days before an election in violation of federal law which mandates 45 days for military personnel. If a state wanted to it can simply move the cutoff date for not counting absentee ballots to 15 days after the polls close to be in compliance with the law, but there are still a third of the US states not in compliance. This means there will be more soldiers disenfranchised in the November elections.
Obama's justice department is apparently using "prosecutorial discretion" to not enforce the law. Who wants all those typically right-leaning military votes to be counted anyway?
