The following article appeared in the Project Syndicate (and reported in MSN) this week. Project Syndicate is listed as a sort of "idea bank" that accepts articles or submissions from around the world on topics important to our civilization. Their idea is to make their readers think about the world around them and/or hear different viewpoints.

The article I would like to call your attention to is written by Dr. Singer who lists as a Bioethics Professor at Princeton. In summary, he has come up with the plan of charging fat people by the pound to fly. He even is gracious enough to let us be weighed with our suitcase (jointly) so that the net weight can be charged. His article is listed at the top of this post.

Moore's comment - The first thing I did this morning, after reading this was to fire off a letter to the Project Syndicate. I will reprint it a little later in the day (so not to influence your response to this article).
