Once again, another vacuum has bit the dust, so to speak. I keep buying cheapass vacs from Costco, and between the three house bunnies, two dogs and my tendencies toward OCD, my Hoover isn't hoovering. This has happened with every vacuum I've bought as an adult. They work for awhile, then they lose suction, and really seem to fall apart way too quickly.
So I come to you folks for help.
I need a new vacuum, and since my sweetie is now suffering from what appears to be a dog allergy, probably the better the vacuum, the better. Do I buy another cheap vacuum, or should I bite the bullet and get a Dyson? Does anyone know about Dysons? Do they work as well as they say they do? Are there any that work as well without the steep price tag? $500 plus for a vacuum seems like a lot, but if I'm replacing mine every couple of years, having something that would last a long time might just be worth it.
I want something that can do stairs easily, since fuzz on the stairs sends me into a frenzy, and something with good upholstery tools would be good, too, since I have purple couches and hate the dog hair on them. We have carpeting and wood floors, so having a vac that can do both would be great. And obviously, getting up pet hair and dust is a plus (understatement of the decade).
I bow to your collective wisdom. Please help me not buy another non-sucky, sucky vacuum.
