I'll be teaching intro psychology this fall to ~175-200 students. I'm starting to think about what I'd like to change and/or update from when I taught it last year. I was thinking about the body image section when I realized I've got an incredible resource here.
What would you like to impart about the subject to impressionable young freshmen? I'm interested in hearing from everybody, FAs, BBWs/BHMs, Feeders/ees, and any combination thereof. Odds are there will be at least a few of each type represented in the class. What would you like to tell them and their classmates?
Last year, I spent time on bulimia/anorexia and didn't say a whole lot about size acceptance, except to mention my own experience of continuing to gain weight even though I was only eating ~1000 calories/day for a number of years (yeah, I know that was bad, but I'm over it now), and that big people can have just as normal lives as skinny ones. I left them with a caution to get help if they were anorexic or bulemic, and not to make assumptions that all fat people do is sit around all day doing nothing but eating bon-bons.
So have at it. I'll use your comments to structure my lecture. As my lectures are pure genius, I have high expectations for you all.
