What's your take on this?

So, there's this kid who makes fun of me for being black and rich. He's always saying racist stuff to me and saying stuff like "go be rich simewhere else." I can;t help it that my family worked hard to get all of us the nice things that we had. I've told him it's not cool and to stop numerous times but he still keeps at it. When he's not messing with me hes picking on this one kid because he's Jewish and this other kid because he's of Middle Eastern descent. I couldn't take it anmore, so I was going to skip 7th period and go hit him. A good friend talked me out of it however and I went to my guidance counselor and told her every racist/insensitive thing he's ever said. She got pissed and told the principal because he's basically been harrassing me. I just always laughed it off. The pathetic thing is, He thinks it's funny and that he is funny for saying it. Did I make the right move? Most people are saying I should have clocked him, but I'd prefer to sit back and watch the shit hit the fan.
