When I was a kid, I read a book my mother had around the house called "Such a pretty face - being fat in America", by Marcia Millman, published in 1980. It was a limited education into the lives of big women and the men who loved them as seen from the perspective of the late 70s. Through my eyes, in that time when there were no places to see large women in anything but the most unflattering of images, it was a revelation and I read the book over and over.

I recently searched out the book and bought it on Ebay, and have been re-reading.

I read a passage today I thought I'd share with you as it relates to fetishism and zaft admiration. The author was interviewing men about their preference at a NAAFA convention in the late 70s. This from the book:

"Finally, one of the men repeated that while he couldn't deny he was attracted by a specific body type, so were most so-called normal men: 'I actually have less specific physical criteria than most men. I'm attracted to women who women who weigh 170 or 270 or 370. Most men are only attracted to women between 100 and 135 pounds. So who's got more of a fetish?'"

Bravo, baby.
