I am so pleased to find sites with such support for what often feels like such a deeply internal struggle about Body Size and Image.
As I read some of the postings here and there, I'm struck by the similarities to my own thinking. It's so sad to see so much self-loathing about our bodies. I have to ask why, why is it this way? What causes this? Is it our individualist, capitalistic society? Is it religon? Is it our parents? Is it schools? What causes us not to celebrate and accept ourselves unconditionally?
This has been my life time struggle in my 54 years. To stand up for myself, support myself, surround myself with people who will accept and support me as I am, drop my perfectionism and control, and ensure that I support and care for others. So far I have been 60% successful at getting there - but not without a lot of thought and considerations.
Since I have been opening up and accepting who and what I am here, it seems like this should be something that should be a given in life - not a struggle doesn't it?
Just what are you're thoughts on this subject?
