Combine 1 1/3 cups sugar, 1 can evaporated milk, 1/4 cup butter, 1 7oz jar marshmellow creme (or 16 large marshmallows, and 1/4 tsp. salt in a saucepan.
Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture has boiled for exactly five minutes.
Remove from heat; add 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 tsp. vanilla and stir until chocolate is melted.
(optional: stir in 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts)
Turn into buttered 8-inch square pan. (Remember, Swish and Flick)
Let stand until firm, then cut into squares.
