A new Gallup poll shows that although thirty percent of Americans identify as members of the Tea Party, more than eighty percent of Tea Party members consider themselves Republican, with 62% calling themselves "Conservative Republican".
Additionally, only 6% of TP members identified as "pure Independent"; those identifying as "moderate Democrats" alone made up 7% of Tea Party members polled, and altogether those identifying as Democrats of some sort comprise 15%.
What this all means- all the info in the article, not just what I've paraphrased here- is that the impact of the Tea Party this November may not be anywhere near what's expected based on the amount of coverage that they get in the media.
