    Silhouettes makes me grumble....

Good on ya, Lilly. You go! I am no more optimistic than you are about your (excellent) letter changing any corporate minds.....but you did write it, and send it, and you deserve kudoes for that. I love bohemian clothing for summer wear only slightly less than I love goth, which I do not wear...

    Corsets?

My God, Tracy, what an absolutely GORGEOUS pic! You look like the penultimate Goth beauty!!!

What do you do to take care of your skin?

I consider my skin to be one of my best features.....but it is ultra-sensitive to everything! I spash copious amounts of water on it, hydrate with Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel, and leave it alone. Once in a GREAT while I'll run a washcloth with Dove soap on it gently to exfolitate. And...

    Emotional non-eating

This has definitely been true for me all my life. It's so very difficult to eat three normal meals a day, every day. My body likes to skip eating until it's starved-NOT a healthy thing to do! When I am depressed or anxious, my stomach just flat out closes the door. Ain't no way anything's going...

OT - I've been diagnosed with cancer ...

....we're your online family and we care mightily about you! All love, support and prayers go out to you. I think it helps if you try to take such an overwhelming process one step at a time, one day at a time. So much easier to say than to do, I know. Let us know what you can, when you can....we...

    Silhouettes makes me grumble....

Ok, ok, this is an old complaint, I know, but could I vent for a moment? Just received the Silhouettes summer catalog. It's filled with gorgeous bohemian/gypsy long skirts and dresses, shirts and tunics. I could make a summer wardrobe out of these babies for a couple of years at least. So what's...

    Clooney.

Was watching Biography last night; they had a show on Tyrone Power. As I watched I was struck by how much Power and Clooney resemble each other! Yes, definitely two very, very beautiful men. How can you help but stare at them??? However, I still have the softest spot for the sinister types...

Pneumonia claims walking girl Marsha Menard

What an incredibly sad loss for our community, her family, and friends. Such a beautiful young woman.....it just seems too painful to be true. I have no words, guys.....may God bless her spirit and keep her memory in our hearts.

    BRAs

.....I just clicked on your site, and I'm going to say this in as dignified and sedate a manner as possible. I LOVE YOU!!!!! Your clothes, fabrics, size ranges, and the gorgeous supersupersize model. I wear many goth/gothy type clothes, and so much of your stuff would fit into any goth's...

    "The Abject Body-Myths of Fatness"

I am absolutely and completely loving this thread! So many wonderful thoughts and ideas presented here-it's a delight and an honor to read them. KF, perhaps you do well to take that advice from your friends re: this site. After all, if you have THE LAW OF PHYSICS on your side, who could ask...

    Shopping

That is such a nice compliment, and it means SO much! Yup, I figure that at my point in life, and with my career behind me, I get to wear, and look like, exactly what I want. That means long hair and dresses (jumpers, skirts) down to my feet. Partly because I love 'em, partly because my legs...

    "The Abject Body-Myths of Fatness"

Maggie, a hearty welcome to you! It is my opinion, and I stress only my opinion, that KF's post, like so many of his posts on the Dim site, come from the very core of the biases you delved into in your work. I am thrilled to have you here among us; I think the honor and good fortune are all ours.

    Shopping

RL (real life) stores and I parted company about 5-6 years ago, alas. There is NOTHING in the Capital District area of upstate NY that carries sizes to fit (properly, at least) my app. 60-55-70" body. I am strictly a catalog and online shopper now, and for me, it has relieved the angst of going...

What do you think of children?

Well, at 55 I'd say my options for having kids are strictly behind me! (lol...) I never really wanted to be a mother, I just knew I was not naturally maternal. I do realize how precious children are, and throughly enjoyed (well, most days) interacting with them in my role as a teaching...

Lane Bryant is officially now "Lame Giant"

That shirt IS ugly. Are they really asking $50 for it? I haven't shopped in LB stores for over 6-7 years now....I'm too large for most of their stuff and it's too hard for me to get to a store anyway. Now I have to be all about catalog and internet shopping, and I do admit, LB provides the...

    Favorite TV-Series

I get thru a LOT of TV in a week's time, and there is no way I could choose just one series as my favorite. Here are a few of the ones I love most: Medium ER House What Not to Wear Cold Case Crossing Jordan Lilo and Stitch Favorites in reruns or syndication: Judging Amy ER (the...

    Fat girls! Get it together!

Your personal style sounds pretty cool to me! As a teen I used to cut my own hair and loved wearing mismatched (my dad's) socks. There is NO style like one's own style, Paris runways be damned! And, as you and Big Cutie Cindy said, comfort above all else. If it ain't comfortable, I don't...

    Fat girls! Get it together!

I'm a goth; a very old (55) and very large (370lbs.) one! Here's what works for me: romantigoth and corporate goth looks. Long dresses and skirts, coats, capes, etc. Medieval and Renn wear. Victorian and Edwardian jewelry. Long, long hair. Pale skin and red lips. I definitely believe large...

    Chicken Debate!!!

I like chicken roasted in the oven....you know, like you'd roast a turkey. I also love barbequed chicken in the summer....and boneless strips in stirfry. I very seldom have KFC, but I sure do like it when I have it! I also make chicken soup with my own stock. Onions, carrots, a little...
