Yes, Nevare is fat ... but he spends an enormous amount of time in the last two of three books engaging in self-hatred. It just wore me out after a time. You spend a lot of time inside Nevare's head, the way Hobb has written the story, and IMO inside Nevare's head is *not* a great place to be...
