    Moving to Michigan!

Hi everyone, I'm glad to see this is still kind of active! I'm finally semi-settled in Grand Rapids. I haven't been posting because I have no internet in my apartment and the last person to live there hasn't turned off their cable yet so I can't get Comcast until they shut that off...

    Air Conditioning Options

Right. From the units I've found it was pretty much universally suggested to vent through the hose out the window. The complaint I've read regarding this is that the hose doesn't really "do it" as far as redirecting the heat out the window. It makes sense that some would escape to the room...

    Air Conditioning Options

That's good to know those only really work in dry climates - Michigan isn't all that dry. ;) And thanks for the welcoming - It's great to be here!:D Any other's have any experience with alternative room cooling methods?

    Air Conditioning Options

Hi everyone... I'm still kind of new around these parts but have been enjoying my stay:) I have a question for all of you: When you can't have a window mountable air conditioner what other options have people explored? My situation is this - I'm tentatively moving into...

    Moving to Michigan!

well.... an average of 80 hrs/wk per month. so could go: week 1: 60 hrs week 2: 100 hrs week 3: 120 hrs week 4: 40 hrs average = 80 hrs/wk man, that does look painful... thanks for pointing that out Bets :p

    Moving to Michigan!

Well, I narrowed it down to two - and neither is the "perfect place"... They're both within 2 blocks of the hospital so the location can't be beat! I think I'm going with the lesser of the two evils... it's unfortunate, but I don't think I'd find the "perfect place" within my price range. So...

    Moving to Michigan!

I can identify with that! I drove to Grand Rapids this weekend doing some apartment hunting and couldn't believe the price of gas - for once NY is cheaper than MI... of course that has to be when I'm moving to MI... Thank God I get about 35mpg!!

    Moving to Michigan!

sounds like I'll have to give this Crunchy's a try... maybe on my drive out! My dad went to Michigan State... He worked at Bell's Pizza on MAC Ave... it'd be a trip to go back there and have a pie!

    Moving to Michigan!

That'd be great if you could come back out - I know amtrak goes from Chicago to Grand Rapids. My dad grew up in Chicago (south side - on wabash between W 109th and 110th) before he moved out to Michigan with my grand parents in his teens. One vote for Mexican food! I know how 96 runs...

    Moving to Michigan!

I would have no problem with Lansing. I've never really been to Lansing (except to get gas after leaving East Lansing - I have friends there) but would definitely be willing to drive the mere 1 hour to meet up with folks there. What do other's think? Should we try for Lansing? Detroit...

    Moving to Michigan!

Hey Stacey, My great aunt just retired a few years ago from a hospital in St. Joe! My grand parents live down in the South West corner - about ten minutes from the beach! Always loved going out there as a kid to visit! I'm so excited that I actually get to move out there now! Well, two...

    Moving to Michigan!

Awesome to see you all responding! I'm excited to say that it looks like my plans are definitely set in stone and I should be moving out as of the 3rd week in June. My dad went to Michigan State (but my aunt went to U of Mich, who to choose, who to choose;) ) Though, one of the funniest...

    Apnea & Diabetes Link

You are quite right! Most of the issues with steroids are linked with oral steroids such as prednisone. This is not to say that a small dose of prednisone over a short period of time is going to make you diabetic or cause you to gain weight. Long term steroids are a bad thing generally...
