Hello,
My name is Shannon Russell and I run a community Fat Acceptance blog called Fierce, Freethinking Fatties.

I just wanted to invite the Dimensions Community to join us as we discuss various issues pertaining to being fat in the midst of the Great Obesity Panic. I realize that the Fatosphere and Dimensions have often been at odds with one another, but we are separate from the Fatosphere.

We're a part of the little "f" fatosphere, the broader community of fat bloggers who do not subscribe to the narrow set of standards that has defined the Fatosphere.

We accept all people, regardless of their personal choices, in an effort to unify all those who believe that fat oppression, fat hatred, and fat discrimination have gone on for too long.

I have been meaning to write this invitation for some time, but since I do most of my blog-work at work, I'm not able to access Dimensions for some odd reason (hmmmmmm...). I first discovered the roots of Fat Acceptance back in 1996-97 when I stumbled across Dimensions.

Confused by my own personal preferences, I found refuge in a community that reassured me that being attracted to fat women was not some flaw or anomaly, but a normal preference shared by thousands of other men like me. Reading the stories of others, chatting with them, and feeling part of a community helped shore up my confidence and laid the groundwork for being the Fat Activist that I am today.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Conrad and the Dimensions Community.

So, if you've been hesitant to join the Fatosphere or have found the Fat Acceptance community unwelcoming in the past, I urge you to try FierceFatties.com, Home of the Nouveau-Bese.

Peace,
Shannon
