A Question for the Computer-Savvy Out There

Every time Sandie tried to open a new screen on her laptop in Internet Explorer (or even to move between messages here on Dimensions), a pop-up window appears with the following message:

Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls
and plug-ins to run?

[Yes] [No]

I have tried to turn the darn thing off but have not been able to find the setting that will stop these messages from appearing.

Does anyone know?
