Hello,
My name is Eboni and i'm a 3rd year photojournalism major at RIT in Rochester, NY. I've started a project about BBW's and how they feel about themselves. It has been great so far, and i've learned a lot about people as well as myself.
I started the project because a professor thought that if someone was going to offend me, they would do so by calling me fat. I started thinking about it and thought i could counter that photographically.
My mother (rest her soul) was a BBW and was discriminated against in the early 60's. She was so scarred from that she tried to beat into my head that you can't get anywhere in life unless you're thin. I want to show everyone that the world is changning and that we are being seen as not only accepted but loved by ourselves and others.
Now that that's out of the way, here's the fun part.
If there is anyone in the Rochester area or the NYC area this week, i'd love to meet up with you to interview and photograph. The photographs are meant to be set up portraits, in any comfortable environment to you. This week is important because a draft of this is due in school, but get back to me anyway if you are interested because I want to do this project long term.
I hope to hear from someone soon, and spread the word!
