I wondered how many people have actually confonted thier parents with issues relating to size issues and acceptance, eating disorders and "fa" sexuality.. etc..
First of all i'm not saying that any of the above are always related to upbringing.. but generally i have found that there are always issues attached to parents..

Tonight my mum (who is about a size 10) was going on about how fat she was. (i was at my parents for diner).
i sort of lost the rag and a whole ramble of thoughts and emotions spilled out..which was more or less:
"your obsession with being thin is rediculous, when i was younger i had a huge "phobia" of being fat, perhaps because of that; i used to spit out food and hide it, i used to obsessivly excersize-at every "playtime" at school, in every spare moment i had at home.. it was so bad that i used to walk bent over because i thought then people would think i looked thinner..it goes on really but thats the guist".
she said "i didnt do that..and never made you feel that way"
my dad then went on to say that she was really obsessional about food..
i reminded her that she didnt allow me to play with the fat kid on my street because she thought her family would feed me junk food..
this is something she tells me, in a proud way when she has had a few wines!
she always has disparaging comments to make about fat people, and i have always called her up on that fact.. although she really likes my gf who is probs about double my size..(though she still ALWAYS goes on about how unhealthy being big is).
she really digs my dad up for being overweight (though really, he is pretty average "scottish dad sized")...
but anyway.. tonight i dug her up about her weight obsession..
and i was wondering if anyone had any experience of conflict regarding size/weight issues with thier parents?
