I'm wondering if some of you ladies who've had WLS could give me some input. Maybe this isn't the right place for it exactly, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
I've read some posts from those who've had WLS that said that they had to deal with a lot of emotions post surgery that they ordinarily would have dealt with by eating. They couldn't "stuff down" their emotions since they literally couldn't eat. So my question is, how did you do it? How did you deal with those emotions in other ways? How do you get through?
I'm curious, because I find myself in a repeating cycle where I start exercising (because I want to feel better, not to lose weight), and then I start eating less just because it starts to feel right, and then suddenly I'm overwhelmed by my emotions. So then I start eating more and stop exercising, and I feel less emotional pain again. But then a few months go by, and I want to start exercising, and it all kicks off again. Do you know what I mean?
I just feel like I need some help. People always say that a person just has to deal with their issues, but this is how I've always dealt with them, and it's not working for me anymore.
Hope this doesn't sound like a request for diet advice... I know that's verboten. I'm not looking to diet; I just want to get more active, because that's what I enjoy. It just always seems to flip this pain switch in me, and I don't know how to deal. So any input would be appreciated, and I hope I'm not asking this in the wrong way. I'm definitely not saying that everyone who's fat eats a lot because they have emotional problems; that's just part of my story and I thought the posters to this particular board might have some good insight for me. Thanks in advance...
