My Fist, Your Face!
I just discovered an amazing program at a university in Budapest, Hungary. A history program with a specialization in Austria-Hungary, which is like totes my favorite subject in the world (I mean besides myself, amirite ladies)!
However, I'm wondering how 'friendly' Europe - especially Budapest obviously - is for bigger guys. For example:
-I'm assuming most cars are on the small side, but public transport kinda balances that out.
-I'm also assuming I'll need to mail order clothing, as whatever the equivalent of 'Casual Male' is in Budapest (or elsewhere) are few and far between, if even existent.
-I've no idea what to expect in terms of seating at theaters, restaurants, cafes, etc.
Obviously, this is all from the POV of an American, especially one who's lived the past four years here in Kansas City, which likely is a bit more forgiving to size than many places elsewhere in the world.
As an FYI, I'm 6'5, 350 lbs, so it's both height and weight issues I'm worried about. I know that obviously there's plenty of big doods over in Socialistcheeseeatingwinedrinkinghealthcaringland, but I've always heard that it's a far lower ratio than here in CapitalistJesusFreedomMurrica, and as such that things like seating, bathtubs, ceilings, are not as accommodating because just the 'average' sizes are smaller than what we have.
Basically, trying to get an idea of what I should expect if I decided to apply. There's a one year program, but the main thing I'm looking at is a 2 year Master's degree, so I'd be living there a decent length of time IF I apply and IF I get in.
I don't think a 'bad' answer would necessarily scare me off - I've wanted to live in Europe for years now - but it'd definitely be something to consider, and especially to plan for with stuff like clothing and all that.
