Reading the thread on the new show Huge, I realized that some of us fatties probably actually went to fat camp.
Show of hands...who went to fat camp?
I was signed up for this fat camp for about a month one summer when I was maybe 11. But (and I am not making this up) I faked tendinitis in my ankle after about a week so I could leave the camp. Well, I didn't intentionally fake tendinitis specifically...but I faked an ankle injury, and since the doctor couldn't find any actual swelling or strain (duh), it got pegged as tendinitis.
Truthfully, I really enjoyed the various exercise activities - like mini trampoline, swimming, hiking, etc. (we got to pick a few each day), and I don't remember being that hungry. I do remember that the camp counselors were super nice (and very conventionally attractive), and that they led us in daily affirmations. But I think I was just too young to be away from home that long, and hadn't yet learned the skill of making new friends quickly. So I finagled my way out...
