So, I've recently got into motorcycling and (by some miracle!) managed to pass my UK motorcycle tests to get an unrestricted bike license. Much as I'm enjoying life on 2 wheels, it would be amazing if I could go out riding with my girlfriend as a pillion passenger on the bike with me.
The problem? Our combined weight is around 700lbs!
From the research I've already done, it seems the maximum carrying capacity of most bikes tops out around the 400lbs mark, so a long way short of what we'd need. So my question is, are there any big bikers around here who know of bikes that are rated to carry 700lbs? My first thought was custom cruisers, but all the Harleys I looked at were rated between 400-500lbs, then I thought maybe a Triumph Rocket... but that's about 450lbs... then I thought maybe a Honda Goldwing (though I hate the look of them), but that was even less.
If there isn't a bike in stock form that would work, is it possible to custom a bike to take that much by getting uprated shocks, tyres etc?
I've posed the question on biking forums and responses have ranged from "no chance" to "go on a diet!!"
Thought I'd have a go at asking here too...
Oh, and sorry if this is the wrong board for the question, I get confused (it happens easily) about which board to use for which question these days... feel free to move the thread if I picked the wrong board. I guess it's non-BBW related in that it's about bikes, but it's BHM/BBW-related in that it's about how to get a BHM and BBW onto a bike together!
