In Rememberance
Last week was just like any other here in Texas. Blue skies, warm weather, birds singing, trees blooming, but it was out there waiting for me, in the shadows ready to make my life a living hell!!!!
The delivery service of Satan - the company I will loath till the day I die. Those 3 letters that will strike fear in my heart from this day forward:
DHL (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH)
I order merchandise from overseas for my business regularly and until DHL (background scream) I never had any trouble at all getting my products in a timely fashion.
3 weeks ago I was innocently brousing Ebay looking for Sari material I could buy to use to decorate my flea market booth. I found the most gorgeous purple Sari's in different shades of purple. I was so happy and they were cheap.
I ordered them. Smooth transaction. They were shipped (ominous music). One week went by, two weeks went by, two and a half weeks - no Sari's. I contacted the seller asking for a tracking number and the shipper.
She told me they were shipped...........................
DHL! (DUN-DUN-DUN).
Innocently I went to the DHL (background scream) website to track my package. I found out my package was sitting in Rhode Island because the address was wrong. A phone call fixed the problem - Or so I thought! (eerie background music)
I went to bed that night thinking all was well.
The next day I went to the DHL (background scream) website to track my package. Oh YAY, it was in Greenville. *That was fast* I naively thought. There it was on the screen, my package was in Greenville. Wait - what??? Greenville SOUTH CAROLINA!!!!
I immediately called DHL (background scream).
"Hey, listen I want you to know that this was a good first attempt at delivery" I said to the operator, "but you see I live in Greenville - TEXAS!!!!"
Apologies - we'll fix it - you'll have it tomorrow - were all sputtered into the phone. Once again I foolishly believed what this Devilspawn told me on the phone. Later that night I checked thr tracking again. Oh good - I said to myself, my package was in Ohio. "Well, at least it's heading west," I thought.
(ominous music)
The next morning I checked tracking again. My package was now back in RHODE ISLAND!! My first thought was that this was a *homing* package and was making it's way back to India!!!
I called DHL (blood curdling scream!!)
"Oh that's standard procedure ma'am. We have to reroute it from here."
Blah, blah, blah, blah!!
I was livid!!!!!!!!!!
I waited all day to check the tracking again fully expecting to find it had gone to GREENLAND!!! But no - it was sitting in RHODE ISLAND!!
One more phone call to (you know who). "Oh yes ma'am. It was shipped to Greenville Texas with a new tracking number. It will be there tomorrow.) I was told.
This afternoon it showed up on my doorstep. I never heard a truck, no knock on the door and no doorbell was rung. It just appeared. I have this mental image of the delivery guy parking around the corner and making his way through backyards, and quietly placing it on my front porch then running away.
But I got my Sari's - no blood was shed - but it was close.
