Okay, so I was originally going to dive right into the juicy parts of my story idea and make it a quick one, but as I started writing I don't know... the words just kinda started coming to me and I couldn't stop! Got a lot more serious than I thought a Santa Clause story would lol but I had so much fun writing this! Anyways, please enjoy my Christmas story and happy holidays to everyone
Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even- Well, while that iconic line may be true for most households that was not quite the case with Clara on this cold Christmas eve. For a few years now the night before Christmas had become one of her favorite moments in the entire year.
For most, Christmas Eve is special for many different reasons. Being able to spend time with family and friends, the lights and decorations making everything look magical, children anticipating what joyous Christmas surprise they'd wake up to the next morning... While the Christmas season had always been Clara's favorite time of the year, none of those things was what made Christmas eve so special for her. No, there was a far different... far bigger reason... she enjoyed that night so much.
At the moment it was around 2am and instead of having visions of sugar plums dancing in her head she was wide awake and buzzing about the kitchen. She had just woken up from her short nap (which was very much needed) and was starting to prepare everything for a very special visit from someone in just a few hours. All the burners on the stove were going full blast and the turkey had only another two hours to go until it was cooked to perfection. Her kitchen counter tops were strewn with cutting boards and dirty mixing bowls. The sink was already starting to pile high with dishes, but she couldn't worry about that at the moment. All her focus and energy was on preparing the most delicious Christmas feast.
As Clara stood there in the kitchen with her dirty apron tied tight around her tiny waist, vigorously mashing a big bowl of potatoes, she couldn't help but take a moment to think back and look fondly on how this wonderful night started for her...
