Hi All,

I used to be a very active member here and for a variety of reasons I have come back with a new identity.

It has been advised that I investigate WLS as a solution to some serious stress health problems that my body is fighting. At 320 or something pounds, my weight has not been an issue.

I have never had a problem with men (or women) who find me sexually appealing at any weight. It is not for aesthetic reasons at all. Frankly, I like my flesh.

My blood sugar is excellent. I have the right amounts of the good cholesterol and good amounts of the bad ones. I am on meds for BP. I ride a bicycle around town and get exercise. With the exception of carrying too much weight for my heart, and the my glands, I am very healthy even though I am middle aged.

My endocrine system is having a hard time because of the amount of cortisol that my glands are producing. Cortisol is a stress hormone. I have a problem with Cushing's disease/ Cushing's syndrome or pseudo-cushings, depending on your definition.

The WLS or mini-WLS they are considering would be buying me time before they consider removing my adrenals (something I am not interested in) or working on my pituitary gland. The pit gland is the size of a pea, and it is called The master gland. because of how important it is. This is where the cortisol is made, I think.

I haven't got a lot of time and trust the opinions of the brave folks here that I have formed relationships with in the past. I believe the people here hove experienced these surgeries are more trustworthy for finding info than many of the other sites out there.

I need to find out as much info as possible. A lot of the places that I have navigated to seem to have a hidden (or not so hidden) agenda. This isn't really helpful for me.

My doctor is a jewel. I trust her immensely. She has only recommended this surgery for a very very few people and will get me the phone number of a similar patient who has had a very positive outcome. SHe has no personal experience with patients that have had complications from surgery, though of course, she has read about these things. SHe thinks that in my case it would be the best solution, and could possibly prevent further, more complicated surgeries.

She told me she wouldn't consider this at all for someone that has unrealistic expectations for a solution to general unhappiness or lack of satisfaction in what life is. In my case, it is considered a medical necessity.

If there is anyone that could point me into the direction for finding out reliable info, I would appreciate it. I want to make a very informed choice.

Thank you.
