I don't know how to read this one. I just saw it used as a friend's FB status update:
The one u just called fat? She has been starving herself & she has lost over 30lbs. The one u just called stupid? She has a learning disability & studies over 4 hrs a night. The one you just called ugly? She spends hours putting makeup on hoping people will like her. The one you just tripped? She is abused enough at home. There's a lot more to people than you think. Put this as your status if your against bullying.

Of course, the 'fat' issue jumped out at me and didn't sit right. But then I thought: well, in some of the other examples, people are working to change their situations (studying, putting on make up) just like the fat example. But I don't know--I don't know how to read the first statement. Is she losing weight by starving herself to fit in, and how awful that is? Is she somehow 'ok' and to be treated kindly b/c she has lost that 30 lbs? If so, is that what's happening with the other cases? Should we treat the 'stupid' one kindly b/c she studies 4 hours a night? Obviously, this passage is meant to put the blame on the bully, not the victim, but it's hard to read, no? Thoughts?
