I won NaNoWriMo. I won it tonight. At the last minute. I crossed the line and hit 50,000 words on an original work of fiction that is - well, not completed, or anything close to completed, but sufficiently fleshed out that I feel really great saying that I won. I won NaNoWriMo once before, in 2005, when I wrote 50k of fictional narrative - mostly semi-related scenes set in a fictional world of my own setting - without a plot. That win was fun, but this win was much, much better.
Oh, and hello (again) Dimensions. I signed up a while back, posted a few times, and then drifted away again, as I will probably do again, because I drift. Like sand, maybe, into big dune things. I rediscovered Dimensions again recently while working on my NaNoWriMo, and have distracted myself and procrastinated whenver possible by lurking. I haven't posted, 'til now, as obviously all of my non-work-related writing energy went into the NaNoWriMo.
Did anyone else here win and/or attempt to win NaNoWriMo? Do y'all need a primer on all things WriMo? Did you know that WriMo is fat friendly, offering t-shirts up to size 5x for the same price as lower sizes?
So, even if I don't post here for another year or three, I wanted to thank y'all good folks for keeping me company while I struggled with my own Inner Editor and completed 50k words [by way of comparison, this is 93 single-spaced pages in Word] of my very own, in one single month. Even though you didn't know you were keeping me company.
Salut!
