Not too long ago the USSR was world super-power. Then with remarkable speed it crumbled. After the collapse it became clear that the USSR rotted from within. While it had maintained an fearsome military and maintained a class of oligarchs (i.e. party officials) the needs of the ordinary people where never met.
Today the USA is in a similar position. Our military might is unchallenged and our oligarchs (i.e. CEOs and other members of the super-rich class) are making out like bandits. Meanwhile, ordinary Americans fall farther and farther down the socioeconomic ladder each year.
The question then is will our country collapse, like our longtime rival, from similar internal rot?
