So, after coming up with a menu and meal planning for Rob and I, I thought it would be cool to see how others tackle meals.
Are you a plan ahead kind of person..shopping purposefully for specific ingredients? Or, do you just buy staples and put stuff together on the fly.
I am a plan ahead kind of person and I try to bulk cook when I can. We have completely stopped eating out. After working all day, I don't always want to cook. I can't imagine having to do it for a family!
We just did a big shopping trip tonight. This is our menu for the next few weeks. I added it up and just from the list below, we should be able to get 35 lunches and dinners.
apple cinnamon pancakes and bacon
chicken pot pie
lasagna
spaghetti and meatballs
meatball subs
steak and sides
hashbrown casserole
smothered pork chops
chicken and rice
crock pot pork chops
taco soup
hamburger steaks
ham steaks
chicken fried rice
shake and bake chicken
We buy all of our meats at Sams. We spent 100 on meat and it will probably last us at least 3 months. The last time we bought meat was back in November. I've only had to purchase hamburger.
I'll spend Saturday or Sunday crafting my home made marinara for the Italian dishes. I normally cook and then separate items into thirds. We eat one third within the week, one third goes to lunches for us and the other goes in the freezer.
What about you?
