It has come to my attention that the Editor of the NAAFA newsletter, Bill Weitze, has "delurked" and posted a message on the VeryFatWomen7 yahoo group where he virtually praises the group and its founder, John Martin.

This has been brought to my attention in the chatroom by several Dim chatters. Incidently, this weeks front page image in the group is a stolen pic of a dimensions member.

I'd like to state that I have attended the last two NAAFA conventions and have probably met Bill and am still a current member, but this really takes the cake in terms of gaul and audacity.

I'll quote his message on VFW7 in full so that others can make their assessment on whether its a NAAFA endorsement of the group or a personal one (as he states).

Hi, John and everyone. I'm Bill Weitze; I edit the NAAFA Newsletter,
but here I'll be speaking for myself only. I wanted to say that I
like this group because it's tasteful and respectful of fat women.
It's sometimes a problem that you post photos without permission, but
I know that you have a policy for removing pictures. So overall I
think this is something positive.

Regarding celebrity BBWs, I'd add Beth Ditto, lead singer of Gossip.

Regarding Renee Williams, I think it's reasonable to point the finger
at the surgery as the cause of death, seeing as how she had been fat
for years and didn't die (although was not well) and she did die less
than two weeks after the surgery. And this isn't surprising; weight
loss surgery is by far the most dangerous elective surgery, with
death rate estimates ranging from 0.5% to 2% overall, and much higher
for those in poor health like Renee.

I have a myspace page at [URL removed], with a blog
and some pictures of cats, if anyone's interested.

Bill

It's of the opinion of several people here (including mine) that he is condoning the actions of this group.

I do not know whether Bill (or NAAFA) is aware that many of the pics in these VFW groups are stolen and when women do find out their pics are there, they join up to his group and request it be taken down. These requests aren't always taken and any complaints have those people banned from his groups.
