Portland, OR: Where to live in the fat lane?

Shot in the dark, but I just moved to Portland, OR and am starting a 'new' life. I'm taking the opportunity to live large and live life in the fat lane. I'm curious if there are any spots or event in Portland that attract like minded people or at the very least where large food lover congregate?
