Regarding the recent British election what most American commentators have failed to realize is that Labour lost most of its seats not to Conservatives but to the more left Scottish National Party. The most important takeaway is that the politics of England and Scotland continue to diverge. Scotland is now solidly social democrat (i.e. more like Scandinavia than England).
