Serena was going away to her Grandmother's. Serena didn't know how it had happened. But she was going to spend her summer with her dad's mother. She never knew about the late night phone call between her dad and his mother. Her mother didn't even know about it. She was just going to enjoy the summer, her and grandma. And she thought it was about time to relax. She was 18, maybe to be married soon. And some time to relax after everything that had happened to her, that would be just what she needed. She had wanted to take a friend or two along. But Grandma had said she wanted some time with Serena, and Serena was cool with that.
Her dad drove her to her Grandmother's by himself. His Wife did not come. Serena just figured he and his mother wanted to talk. Serena was left in the car, and a half an hour later her dad came out of the house. He helped Serena bring her stuff in. Grandma looked a little sad. Serena asked if she was alright? She said she was fine. So, Serena took her stuff upstairs, unpacked and came back down.
Serena took her time and relaxed at Grandma's. And something started to happen. Grandma started feeding her more and more. Serena still talked with her friends on the phone. But hadn't brought her computer. Her dad told her to just relax. And Serena's old appetite had started to come back. Only now she was 18. And food started to just pile on and on.
Serena's dad came after the summer to pick Serena up. What he saw startled him. But, what he thought was: 'The Plan may have worked too well.'. His mother had told him to bring his minivan. Serena was absolutely huge. Serena was Enormous. She had gained weight over the summer. More than her father had planned for. Yes, this was her father's plan. And we will get to that later. Serena was now huge. Serena did not want to go home. But, her father convinced her to get into the minivan and they drove off. He saw his mother scowling at him in the rear view mirror. But he knew he was right.
They arrived home, all Serena's friends were waiting for her. Serena cried and gasped when she saw Darien waiting too. Darien started in horror at her. Then he said: "Serena, we need to talk Privately". Serena could not even fit through the front door. They went around to the back. Where Darien broke off the engagement and even their relationship until Serena lost weight. Darien Silently left. Serena came back to the front yard sobbing and telling her friends. Lita ran off after Darien, ready to beat him to his senses. Amy ran after her, along with Mina. Rei stayed. Serena's mother took control of the situation and told Serena she would stay with Rei, Rei would help Serena lose the weight, and she would be back with Darien. Serena smiled.
Serena's mother scowled at Serena's father who was trying to act innocent, but knew he was in for it. Serena's father drove Serena and Rei to The Temple. And he drove home knowing he was in for it, just like Darien, maybe even worse. Ken decided to take some time out for a bit to let Serena's mother cool down.
Serena went to sleep, still crying somewhat. And Rei thought. A Wicked thought came to her. Then Cognitive Dissonance took over, and Rei knew what she had to do.
The Next Morning Serena woke to the most delicious smells. Serena ambled to the kitchen. There was a ton of food out.
"Rei?", she asked wonderingly.
"Eat up, if you want to?"
"But, aren't you supposed to help me lose weight?"
"Look Serena, I hate to say it. But, if that Dirtbag doesn't want you how you are, he doesn't deserve you."
"But Rei, what about-"
"I don't know the future Serena. But, if Darien doesn't accept you as you are, he doesn't deserve you. You know that I am right."
Serena started to cry and cry. Rei led her back to bed. Serena was crying in bed. Rei had to ask.
"Serena... Do you want company?"
"Rei.... Don't Leave me Alone, not now."
Rei got into bed with Serena who made room for her on the last night adjusted beds.
