"Billionaires Crap Out in 2012 Election"
by Jim Hightower
"Of course, the billionaires aren't through. They reckon that the roughly one billion bucks they put up this year just wasn't enough firepower. So look for even more obscene spending in 2014 and 2016."
A billion dollars! And all they had to show for it was a mountain of obsolete TV ads, lawn signs, and newspaper propaganda, exposing themselves for the greedy, self-serving, destructive bunch they are. They left their money on the table and went home to whatever expensive rock they crawled under.
But . . . that money didn't stay 'on the table'. It flowed out through the newsrooms, TV corporations, sign printers, et c., to the workers who generated that stuff, and on to the 'butchers, bakers and candlestick makers' who really make the economy. Perhaps some of it even filtered down to public housing and food shelves, where it is really needed.
Considering what the 1% got for their efforts, I would have to say "Thank you for your magnanimity", even if it wasn't your original intent. Perhaps, if you did the same thing every year, but out of love rather than greed and hatred, your message might get through to us.
Of course, it might, by then, be a different message.
