Tonight I attended a fundraiser dinner for the local Sweet Adeline Chorus. My friend and I arrived a bit later than expected and could not find seats for dinner with our other Womansong members so we sat at another table with folks from the sponsoring church where the event was held.
I first noticed those "looks" from two of the women in particular as soon as we were seated. Next, when one of these women asked the other if she would like some butter for her roll. The lady looked very sad and said "No, I am trying to be GOOD," while laughing coyly. :doh:
My friend Kristi just looked at me and we continued with our meal. When it came time for dessert, Kristi offered to go to the dessert table and get some for us both. Then she paused and asked, "Do you want ice cream or whipped cream on your piece.....or both." As the two other women looked rather expectantly at me, I just smiled from ear to ear and said.........."Oh YES to both............and the more CHOCOLATE better!".
LOL! Cost of dinner ticket......$10 dollars.
Cost of their amazed and stunned facial expressions.........priceless.
AND Kristie and I ate our chocolate cake with ice cream AND whipped cream as they watched in silence. Teehee!
Might not be a big thing to some folks, but it is the little times like this that I remain true to myself that make me giggle outloud.
