I thought it would be interesting to see how food prices, and in particular different types of food, vary by region. Now, I know prices can change weekly with sales and all. Still, it should give some info.
It is also for North American comparisons that right now the US and Canadian dollars are at about parity, so prices can be compared directly.
So, what would you expect to pay right now (harvest time, so veggies may be cheap):
A gallon (or 4 litres) of 2% fat milk?
A large container of basic plain yoghurt (specify size)?
A head of broccoli?
Fresh tomatoes?
Ten pounds of potatoes?
A large bag of frozen peas (specify size)?
A pound of lean hamburger?
Whole chicken, per pound?
Basic sausages (bratwurst, etc) per pound?
The question is inspired because when we've visited friends in teh US, it always seemed to use that veggies were relatively more expensive there--but that could be that we were in major cities, not a national thing.
